Our School for Dog Trainers may be just what you're looking for. We offer a flexible schedule, competitive pricing, hands-on training, and lessons are given by a certified and experienced trainer.
These courses are ideal for dog trainers, vet-techs, groomers, boarders, and others who have an interest in beginning or furthering their knowledge of canine behavior and training methods. There are courses designed for those interested in Search and Rescue, Detection dog trainer/handler, police K9 handlers/trainers. Whether you are currently in the canine behavior/training field or just beginning, these courses have something to offer. Semesters begin in January, April, July and October.
The Dog Trainer Courses are intensive, covering a broad and thorough spectrum in their respective subjects. We strive to keep class sizes small in order to give the student individualized attention. There will be both classroom and hands-on lessons. Students will get the opportunity to train dogs we have available. Students may bring up to two dogs of their own during the course. Students are NOT required to clean kennels etc. The student is studying to be a dog trainer, not a pooper scooper. Less scooping time = more training time. Those who pass the course and final exam will receive certification in their respective fields of study.
Unless otherwise stated, the dog training academy is conducted at our facility near Spencer, IN.

Protection Dog Trainer Course
Streamlined Protection Trainer Course
The student will learn the proper techniques of teaching, correcting, and proofing of the dog for a dependable animal both on and off leash. The course will cover many dog problems such as different types of aggression, housetraining, the need for socialization, canine first aid and others. This is designed for those individuals who are already in the pet market and/or those who desire to enter the dog-related field. The course is intense and practical.
The Course Outline covers training fundamentals, training methods, canine development, canine behavior and canine health.
Six week course is $4500 and covers course materials, tuition, application fee. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve placement in the course.

This six-week course of study covers Canine Behavior and Training, on and off leash obedience as well as other skills and knowledge needed to train a dependable protection dog.

This four-week streamlined yet intensive course assumes the student is sufficiently educated in the methods of canine obedience training. It focuses solely on the personal protection aspect of training.

Basic Cadaver Detection (Human Remains Detection)

This is a three week course designed for K9 handlers. Students will work with their dog in skills such as criminal apprehension, interdiction methods, narcotics or explosives detection, case law, and other needs specified by the department. It builds the working relationship between handler and K9, giving street credibility and reliability.
Cost of the Course is $2500 but INCLUDED AT NO EXTRA CHARGE when the department purchases the K9 from us.

This is a six week course covering the selection of detection prospects, the canine olfactory system, various methods of detection, imprinting target odor, maintenance training, proofing, teaching the alert, problem solving.

This six-week course teaches selection of the HRD dog, scent theory, alerting, proofing, canine obedience while at a distance from the handler, problem solving. Covers both land and water theory, record keeping, real-life situations. This basic course prepares the student for further and deeper experience in cadaver detection.

A six-week course is designed to teach the selection of SAR prospects, scent theory, alerting, obedience from a distance, proofing. The student can focus upon one of the following specialty areas: Scent Discrimination Trailing, Urban SAR, or Wilderness SAR. This basic course is a solid and comprehensive preparation for insertion into their respective real-world specialty area.
